Job safety: never pay to apply
Job scams target job seekers, especially first-time job seekers and recent graduates. Here is how to spot them, what we do to stop them, and what to do if something feels wrong.
Warning signs
- Any request for money: a registration, training, visa, work-permit or “processing” fee, a deposit, or buying equipment.
- Being asked to move to WhatsApp, Telegram or a personal email before you have even applied.
- A request for your ID, passport, bank details or card before a written offer.
- Pay that is far too high for the work, “earn $X a day” tasks, crypto, gift cards or reshipping parcels.
- Pressure to decide immediately, or an offer without any interview.
- A recruiter writing from a free email address while claiming to be a large company.
What Global Jobs does
- Our moderators verify every employer before its jobs go live, starting with a work-email check.
- New and edited jobs are reviewed. Automatic checks block phone numbers, emails and links in job text and flag fee or payment language.
- Every job has a “Report this job” button. Reports about fees or scams are acted on within 4 working hours.
- Applications stay on the platform, and your contact details are shared only with employers you apply to.
If something feels wrong
- Stop replying and don't send money or documents.
- Report the job with the button on its page. Reports go to our moderators.
- If you paid or shared bank details, contact your bank straight away.
- Report fraud to the police: in Lebanon, the Internal Security Forces' cybercrime bureau.
